As far as I know a stock HD or even aftermarket HD pipe will not fit a savage. Each engine exhaust is flanged, and angled differently and very little interchange is possible even between brands and models with in a brand. Mufflers however are a different situation. I used a HD double taper on mine for a while with a spacer in the connection. NAPA and the other parts stores and muffler shops have bushings to adapt the different sizes. Going from Metric to US may not be perfect and need a additional shim from a tin can. Also I've used an exhaust system sealer with some sucess on this connection. It will not replace the head to flange gasket however.Nothing will stand that heat except another new gasket. Now for other solutions to your "pipe" question. For lots of noise use the Highway Hawk drag pipe as a header (I'll sell you a used one already cut off for a muffler installation - cheap) or a Raask double wall drag pipe (about $400.US) Then the HD muffler will slip over the inner pipe and under the outer chrome cover, no clamp needed. Extend the muffler support and you are in business. The reason I know this is I have a stack of tried and discarded exhau$t part$ I just moved in my shop. I like the sound and appearance of the Raask/HD combo. If looks are not a big issue, I saw where someone had adapted a NAPA tractor muffler to a thumper, and I think the Enfield Bullet 500 chrome mufflers would fit with a little work. Both the stock and shorter off road performance unit are available from their wharehouse. Happy searhing for the combo you like best.
